Where MAIS Eco began. In 2023 three agreements signed with the kings of the Dohi, Agbanidjèhoué and A.K.N.N.N communities gave us exclusive management rights for mangrove restoration on their coastal lands.

The first test bed

Benin taught us how the model works: community-led restoration, traditional-authority engagement and the reality that new mangroves will be cut again unless the demand for firewood is met. It also taught us that institutional capital needs a clear host-country carbon framework. That's why Ghana became our first financeable platform, and why we'll return to Benin when the framework is ready.
